Happy 2 MONTH Birthday Zachary

Our first family photo.

In the car going places!

We spent the day out and about. We had lunch at yummy In-N-Out, went looking for shoes for mommy, then to the mall to get mommy's boots fixed, babies r us to buy a pack and play to keep at Grandma's house while mommy and daddy get back to work full time :( and finally we went grocery shopping. It was a long but fun day and Zachary was as always a trooper...who knew 2 months could go by so quickly, but we're enjoying every moment of it.

6 Week Dr. Appt.

Zachary had a visit with Dr. Klyman on June 10. He weighs 10pds 4oz and in the 50th percentile for his weight. He is now 23in long and in the 35th percentile for his length. Although Dr. Klyman thinks he's little in comparison to other babies his age, she said he's very alert and growing fine. He was also prepared for his first set of shots; he had to get 3, 2 in one leg and 1 in the other. He also got a liquid vaccination along with his pacifier, he loved it! He was fussy at the beginning and cried a little when the needle touched his skin but thanks to Daddy and him whispering "you're OK" he was fine at the end. On the other hand, Mommy had to take a step back and wipe off her tears. We were a little concerned about the side effects from the vaccinations, but when we got home Zachary was out like a light for the rest of the day. We are so proud of our brave little boy!

Bath Time

Zachary loves to get a bath. He smiles when he farts and poops!

Since We've been gone

Sorry we haven't posted since Mother's Day, hence the title of this post. Go ahead, we'll wait until you're done singing the Kelly Clarkson, not High Pitch Eric, jingle, "Since you've been gone". "Who's High Pitch?"(<- you tube the quote & you'll get the High Pitch reference). In the last month Zachary has gone from sleeping 2 - 2 1/2 hours to almost 4 hours. It's the small achievements in life that count. Pun intended. Zach is also staying awake for longer periods of time during the day. For Memorial Day weekend we went over to GP's and Grandma's and Uncle "Chuck" Elmo's house for a mini vacation at the beach. We went down on Thursday and stayed until Tuesday morning. It was a refreshing and "first" vacation together as a family. Elmo was so excited that he helped unpack Zach's clothes from his bag. We continuously had to keep his bag away from Uncle "Chuck" because he loved having Zach's soft clothes in his mouth. Silly dog.
On Friday, we were out and about running errands with Grandma. The entire time Zachary slept, even when we went to the mall. Obviously Zach is taking after his father as he could have cared less about "window shopping." Going to the mall wasn't just a ho-hum experience. Grandma was shopping for PJ's for Zach when she noticed a little girl about 3-4 crying looking for her mom. Grandma chased after her a just as she picked her up to look for her mom and for the Mall Cop (Paul Bart?), the little girl's Grandma appeared right behind us, taking her back to her Mom. Ohh GOD!!!
Saturday was a day of many firsts!!! Mom, Grandma, Auntie Jenn and Auntie Morgan took Zach on his first picnic and first park. They spent the day watching Cousin Caden play in the playground all the while asking if his little cousin Zach could come and play. Caden was told not yet, along with Zach STILL not being able to eat oatmeal. What is it with Caden wanting Zach eating oatmeal? As for Dad, he got to go out and play his first round of golf in five years with Uncle Tony and Uncle Matt. As for how he did, don't ask. He was just happy to get back out there and swing the sticks again.
Saturday night we took Zach out for his first night of sushi (Kabuki in HB) with Auntie Jenn and Auntie Morgan. It was our first time going out for sushi since we found out Zach was on the way last August. Needless to say, it was a night to remember. Not only did the Lakers win and advance to the NBA Finals, but we also got to see a belligerent drunk woman sitting next to Auntie Jenn not only stumble around the restaurant looking for the bathroom, but eventually getting kicked out by restaurant management and thrown out and arrested by the HB PD. FUN TIMES!!!
Sunday GP and Ben did a little bit of yard work and then supervised as Uncle Tony came over and did a little yard work for GP too. We then had the traditional Memorial Day BBQ'd. Monday was a day for chilling and enjoying our final day of vacation with GP and Grandma!!

Mother's Day

It is still taking us as Mom & Dad to get used to getting to places on time. Instead of getting ready to leave an hour and a half prior to, we have quickly figured out that it needs to be doubled if not more. Zachary has quickly learned how to time his feedings, soothing and meeting times, i.e. blowing it out as we are getting ready. Even though we've gone out a few times, we’ve had to start and stop to and make sure his needs are met. Once his needs are meet, he makes it worthwhile with a smile or is it a smirk knowing he’s just messing with us?
We spent the first Mother's Day at Grandma's house. Zachary was as happy as a pig in mud. Everyone wanted to hold him and he was happy to oblige them. From the moment we walked into Grandma’s house everyone had their arms out to hold him. From Great Grandma, to Grandma, to Aunt Morgan and Aunt Jenn, to Uncle Mario and Aunt Leslie held Zachary is it "Zacharone" Aunt Leslie? Cailin wasn't too sure about Zachary and every time he was near, she just stared and to say, "Hey who's this kid? I'm the baby around here, not you, you little pip squeak." Caden held him too, even though when he slept, Caden kept prying his eyes open to see what they looked like. Ha! He proceeded for the entire five hours we were there to be held and sleep his day away. Everyone commented on what a good boy he was and didn’t make a peep, except for when he was hungry or needed his diaper changed. When the day was done and we got home is when Zachary woke up and began his day. He was up from 9-11:30 and then at 1, 3 and 4:30 and with no regard for Dad needing to get up at 6 to go back to work for the first time since Zachary came into this world. Oh well such is life with a newborn.

Doctor's visit

Zachary had his second doctor's visit yesterday. This trip went much better than the last as we made it on time and no "blowing it out" incidents. Zach has gained all of his weight back and then some. He now weighs 7pds. 6oz. and as the Doc said to us, he's a healthy baby boy. On the way home however, he wasn't happy and tired from being poked by the doc. Such a tough life for a two week old. We tried to go to Babies R Us, but he wasn't having it, so Dad had go in all by himself and pick up some essentials while Mom calmed him down. When we got home, he slept like a champ, but once he awoke, he was up from 4:30 til 10, needless to say not only was he tired and unable to go to sleep, we were tired from trying to settle him down. Ahh yes, you could say this was our first, "Pull your hair out moment." No matter what we did, he wasn't having it. He would doze off for a few minutes and then eyes wide open, saying to us, just kidding!!! Eventually he fell asleep and we did too. Thankfully we all slept well last night.
